Rev. Dr. Henry Nelson is currently the Pastor at In Need Of Change Fellowship Church, Inc.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Henry and his five siblings grew up in a Christian home where they were raised by two doting parents.
After several unfortunate events, Henry was forced to reaffirm his relationship with God, Henry enrolled in Emmaus Correspondence Bible College, where he earned an Associates of Arts in Biblical Studies. Enamored by the gospel, Henry later attended courses at Discover Bible School and earned several certificates. Henry also received an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters for the humanitarians and ministerial work he has been doing for several years, from CICA International University & Seminary.
Henry later became a member of Brooklyn Tabernacle, where he worshipped for nine years; Henry joined the Pals for Christ Prison Ministries and began ministering to those who were incarcerated. For well over 10 years, Henry continues to minister to inmates in prisons in and around New York City and state, and has expanded his ministry to include at-risk teens and individuals who live in local shelters. Through his Giant Leap Foundation, Henry has created a safe space for neighborhood boys and girls to come on Friday night’s to congregate, play games, enjoy some food, and learn about God.
In addition to his ministerial work Henry has also established himself as a respected businessman. Through his various enterprises, Henry has done business with some of the best and brightest in Black America (Dr.George C. Fraser, Les Brown, Dr. Iyanla Vanzant, Lisa Nichols).
When asked about his journey to becoming the man he is today, Dr. Henry Nelson says:
“It took an unfortunate ordeal for me to recognize God’s hand on my life, and I am determined to spend the rest of my life ensuring that no one else has to reach such lows before they realize that despite the sins and depravity that may have defined their former-selves, my God is a forgiving God, and through Christ, they can do all things.”
